30"x 40" Arcylic on Canvas On my honeymoon, now 10 plus years ago we went to Kauai Hawaii. We had some friends from college who lived on the island. So we had a list of a few must see locations to visit during our time celebrating our connection together. One of those places remains to be my most treasured spot on this earth. Secrets Beach, not only sounds secluded but it looks and feels untouched.

30"x 40" Arcylic on Canvas As a local San Diegan Windansea beach is one of my favorite places to view the sunset. The angle of the beach coupled with its turquoise water and rock formations always makes for an incredible composition. For this painting I wanted to showcase the beauty of this place during the early spring when the moss green on the rocks seems to glow in contrast to the heavy gray marine layer.

30"x 40" Arcylic on Canvas Some friends of mine travel regularly and return with descriptions of the most remote places on the earth. One particular time they found themselves on a private boat touring the small islands around Bali. As they talked of the way the weather felt, the leaves of the massive palms reaction to the light and humidity, the colors and sounds that lit the atmosphere, I was mesmerized by their experience.

30"x 40" Arcylic on Canvas There is something so peaceful about the sound of these thin little palm branches rustling in a gentle breeze. When we first moved to San Diego I recall laying by the pool one afternoon. There was something so magical about the sound I heard. All I could hear were the faint sounds of little birds, and the gentle whisper of the wind causing the palm ferns to dance. I thought to myself “this must be paradise” I still find myself stealing these inspiring moments from the

30"x 40" Arcylic on Canvas Growing up in Northern California these palm trees are typically the only ones we had around. They always reminded me of sturdy old wise men. With their untamed beards of dead ferns hanging close to their trunks and their loose spiky tops. Always standing where they were, seeming to be the faithful landmarks of the neighborhood. They aren’t the most beautiful of the palm family, but for me they represented the constant markers of the horizon line.

30"x 40" Arcylic on Canvas No matter where I am, if I look through the glistening ferns of palm branches my soul feels lifted. Most of us identify palm branches with vacation destinations, beach resorts, and sunny days. Privileged to live in San Diego California, I cant look outside without seeing the landscape littered with a verity of palm trees. With this painting I wanted to capture the invasive attitude the palm trees have here.

30"x 40" Arcylic on Canvas This particular leaf has always reminded me of the weightless feeling of a dream. The body language it’s shape carries seems to be so carefree. The gentle sway like a dance in the ocean breeze is so relaxing to my eyes. I really enjoyed painting this one, and I hope that those who see it are moved the way I am.

30"x 40" Arcylic on Canvas My first time seeing these massive leaves from giant bird of paradise plants was quite a moment. I felt like I was on the set of some Prehistoric film, and there was no way these plants were actually real. It must have been humerus or even a bit embarrassing for those around me. As this full grown adult was so fascinated by the size and shape of these powerful leaves. I was obsessed.
